With the relaxing of COVID restrictions the Club welcomes WANSARC members back to our clubrooms. The March 4 Friday night meeting will be the first for quite awhile, so members are encouraged to pop down to the clubrooms and meet with other members, face to face.
Club President, Graeme, VK3NE, will be our guest speaker for the night. He will be demonstrating Kiwi Software Defined Radio.
Members of the Club are also encouraged to bring along projects that they have been working on during the “lockdown”. This could be a kit, a restoration project, or an idea that has come to fruition. It would be great for others to learn from your experience with a short presentation of no more than 10 minutes.
In terms of COVID safe practices the following requirements apply:
- All members and visitors must be double-vaccinated
- A Club Committee member will be asking for proof of double vaccination.
- If you are not double vaccinated, you will not be permitted to enter the club rooms. Please do not be offended.
- All members and visitors must check-in using the QR code at the Club
- Masks are not required, feel free to wear a mask if you wish
Doors will be open around 7:30 pm, with an 8:00 pm kick off for the meeting.
Visitors are most welcome.
Regrettably, due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, our October meeting has been cancelled.
All is not lost.
The club will be running two nets on October 1, 2021, in lieu of the normal club meeting.
The first net will be held at 8.00pm local time via the Mount Macedon VK3RMM repeater. The input frequency is 147.850MHz and the output 147.250MHz. VK3RMM is an open repeater with no tone access required.
The second net will be held at 9.00pm local time on 3.685MHz +/- QRM. Net control on both nets will be VK3AWS, club station of WANSARC.
So why not pop in and have a say? You will be most welcome.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown in Victoria, our next meeting, scheduled for Friday 3rd of September, has been cancelled.
In the meantime, the club will conduct not one, but two, nets on Friday 3rd of September.
The first will be at 8:00 pm local time on the VK3RMM Mt Macedon repeater. The Mt Macedon repeater has extensive coverage over the north and western suburbs of Melbourne and should be accessible by all members in the club. The input frequency is 147.850 MHz on 2 metres and the output frequency is 147.250 MHz. The repeater does not require any tone access.
At 9:00 pm local time the second net will occur on HF, using the frequency of 3.685 MHz on 80 metres. This is the same frequency that the club uses for regular Tuesday evening nets.
Due to the current uncertainty around rules and meeting density limits, there will be no meeting this Friday night, 6th August.
Our next meeting is planned for Friday 3rd September.
Our next meeting on Friday 2nd of July will go ahead as planned, unless there are any changes to COVID restrictions in Victoria.
On Friday 7th of May, there will be a special presentation by Peter VK3BFG on Digital Amateur Television (DATV). This will be streamed live via the Mount View DATV repeater.
The first face-to-face meeting of the club is scheduled for February 5,
2021 at the clubrooms, with doors opening around 7.30pm.
Due to the current COVID 19 pandemic, our meetings are postponed until further notice.
An announcement will be made on this website, via email to our members and on our Club Net when further information is available.
Thanks to the Australian Maritime College and ACMA, the club has applied successfully for a special callsign to celebrate WANSARC’s 50th anniversary.
VI50AWS will be operational from 0001 1 March 2020 until 2359 31 August 2020.
In that time the club will take every opportunity to have the celebratory callsign on air.
