Statement of Purposes

The purposes of the Western And Northern Suburbs Amateur Radio Club (WANSARC) is to foster community engagement, education, and public service through the practice and promotion of amateur radio. As a non-profit organization, we aim to bring together individuals of all ages and backgrounds who share an interest in radio communications, electronics, and technology.

The primary goals of WANSARC, as a not-for-profit association, is to provide:

  1. Education & Training: To provide members with resources and opportunities to learn about amateur radio, including operating practices, electronics, experimentation and technical aspects of establishing/maintaining a radio station. This includes hosting training sessions, hands-on workshops and presentations from subject matter experts to encourage personal growth and technical skills development.
  • Public Service & Emergency Communications: Be of service to the community and other amateurs at all times, by encouraging members to participate in portable field exercises and be members of local or international amateur radio, civil or government emergency organizations.
  • Promote Fellowship & Collaboration: To create a welcoming and collaborative environment where members can share knowledge, experiences, and build lasting relationships. We encourage teamwork, participation in local and national events, and the exchange of ideas to advance the field of amateur radio.
  • Community Outreach: To engage with the broader community, raise awareness about the importance of amateur radio, and inspire others to explore the hobby. This includes events, school programs, and public demonstrations, aiming to introduce amateur radio as a valuable tool for communication, learning, and personal development.
  • Sustainability: To build and maintain a self-sustaining organization that continues to grow in its outreach, support, and impact on the community, ensuring that amateur radio remains accessible and relevant for future generations.
