WANSARC

The Western And Northern Suburbs Amateur Radio Club (WANSARC) – is the home of VK3AWS.

Established in 1970, WANSARC provides a meeting place, forum and focus for amateur radio operators, shortwave listeners and those interested in radio and electronics.

The club meets on the 1st MONDAY of each month, except January.

From February to December the club arranges for guest speakers to provide information on a wide variety of radio and electronics topics.

Also in December of each year the club arranges a formal dinner where members and their families can reflect on the years activities and catch up over a 2 or 3 course meal.

WANSARC has had great success in fielding a portable contest station, using our club callsign of VK3AWS, in VHF/UHF Field Days. From time to time members will meet at a mutually agreeable local location, set up a portable station on HF/VHF/UHF with battery power and operate on air.

The portable radio activities aim to enhance operator skills, promote the building/testing of antennae and of course to have a chat on and off air.

The club utilises 146.450MHz FM as our liaison frequency – pop a radio on the frequency and don’t be shy to call CQ and/or drop in to a conversation if the opportunity arises. Someone from the club is normally listening on the frequency.

Incorporated in Victoria, 1985. Registration Number: A0007611S.
